I was very excited last week when I was nominated for the Creative Blogger Award by Sareta’s Kitchen. It was especially awesome because I don’t consider myself a blogger yet, and to be nominated by a blogger that has inspired me to keep writing was pretty cool. So thanks! And seriously, her page is great. Everything about it is good for the soul ❤
1. Thank and link back to the person who nominated you (mention your nominator in your own award post with a link back to their original award post, which would be this one).
2. Share 7 things about yourself.
3. Nominate other bloggers and comment on their blogs (usually on their about page or contact directly if necessary) to let them know
7 Things about myself
1 – I am a British Punjabi and my family are from Kenya, I have a really strong but confusing sense of identity and even though I’m a mish mash, each part of my cultural background is very present in my life. I like orderly queues, pie and mash, London, Saron da Saag (a traditional punjabi dish), Mogo (Punjabi but a kenyan dish), katangas (tie die night gowns from Africa), the sound of Swahili, African wildlife and pointy turbans. (Picture Bend It like Beckham but without the football and with more creative art and music)
2 – My father was in the Army so I travelled around a lot. I’ve lived in lots of places over the years, some of which include Wroughton, Swindon, Catterick and Harrow!
3 – I started yoga about a year ago and try to practice at least twice or three times a week. I find it difficult and am still not that good but I’m determined to keep at it because it makes me feel better! Which brings me on to my next fact…
4 – I began yoga because I was having stomach issues. I still do from time to time, some doctors have “diagnosed” it as IBS and some say it’s Gastritis and general inflammation. Whatever it is it means I’m in pain a lot of the time when I don’t watch what I eat. I have been making an effort to eat better and practice yoga because it makes me feel less tense and knotted up. With stress it flares but after August it should ease up, becauuuuuuseeee…..
5 – I’m getting married in August! I’ll be in a town just outside of Barcelona getting married next month. It’s all very exciting and all consuming. I’m hoping that afterwards, relaxation and happiness will descend upon me like a good dream!
6 – I love to paint flowers on people. As part of the posts that I write about inspirational women, I’ll be painting flowers on them (if they let me) too. I feel like painting on skin is a beautiful way to bring what’s on the inside to what’s on the outside. Also it just looks really cool! The body art all started because I used to do mehndi/henna on my family and friends and now I do a bit of henna stuff and body paint stuff!
7 – I sing, play the flute and speak German….. Not particularly interesting but I ran out of facts!
I would like to nominate
….Okay… So I’m still really new to the blogging world and a lot of my inspiration has been from Instagram and facebook. Pages like Humans of New York and Beach Yoga Girl inspire me to talk about what yoga does for me and to talk about the experiences of the awesome women that I meet. But there are a couple of blogs that I follow that I think are great-
Draw the Public – This page is just visually beautiful, and I like the concept behind it. There’s immense beauty in the ordinary.
RachelGBK – I only recently discovered this page and have really enjoyed reading and relating to her posts. She’s doing 100 days of yoga and everyone that does that deserves a nomination.
Thanks for reading, and thanks for writing! I can’t wait to do more of both this year,
